Is your job giving you grief or are you ready for something new? Perth could be the ultimate backdrop for that fresh start you’re craving, particularly for hospitality and tourism workers.

We teamed up with the Western Australian Government to discover what makes life in the west, simply the best. To start with, WA boasts some of the best beaches in the world, with pristine turquoise waters and white sand that stretches for miles.

With the regions booming, there are loads of killer hospo jobs on offer in this beautiful part of the world, too. Read on to find out why we reckon you should consider a seachange to Perth to score a great job and lifestyle at once. It's time to discover the other side.

A Truly Relaxed Lifestyle

When it comes to work-life balance, Perth has nailed the brief. Depending on which end of the hospo workday you’re on shift, there are plenty of ways to let loose in this spectacular playground. Early-rising baristas can enjoy knock-off ocean dips to wash off all those coffee grounds followed by the flaming red and orange sunsets the west coast is known for.

Prefer the late-night shifts? You’ll have the whole day to explore your new home, with the best of city and nature. There's bustling cultural activity in Perth's CBD and Northbridge and outdoor adventures at nearby national parks. Hikers will rejoice at the incredible trail choices in WA. Or, find a bargain at a number of outdoor sunset beach markets

Unbeatable Beaches Aplenty

We simply can’t talk about Perth without banging on about its 19 pristine metropolitan beaches and incredible coastline. There’s a sandy spot to suit every coastal fan, no matter what you like to do. There are beautiful beaches located just a short distance from the CBD with excellent surf, top-tier cafes and beachfront restaurants such as Cottesloe, City Beach or Scarborough. Or you can jump into holiday mode for a day with a trip to Rottnest Island, home of the happiest creatures on earth, the quokka.

If you like what’s below the surface, there is no shortage of great diving spots. Visit Marmion Marine Park in Trigg to explore coral and limestone caves, or snorkel the Coogee Maritime Trail to discover the insta-famous Omeo shipwreck. Stacks of Sunshine

If you're sick of being soggy thanks to everyone's worst best friend La Niña, you'll be happy to know that Perth is one of the sunniest capital cities in the world, averaging eight hours of sunshine per day all year round. This guarantees extended time to have plenty of fun in the sun. It’s ideal weather for exploring Kings Park and Botanic Gardens—one of the world's largest city parklands, even beating New York’s Central Park. So, if it's stacks of sunshine and nature you've been craving, push Perth to the top of your list.

The Excellent Food And Drink Offerings

When hospitality is the industry you live and breathe, food and drink are everything. Thankfully, Perth has a hospo scene that really does rival the east coast. There are cosy wine bars, great indoor and outdoor pubs, luxe fine dining and casual eats to suit all tastes and dining preferences. Not only does that mean you’ll be well-fed and watered while settling into your new coastal lifestyle, but you’re also guaranteed to find a fulfilling job in a business producing sought-after experiences. A win-win. Check out our guide to the best restaurants to tick off in Perth this year here.

Festival Central

Alongside all the great eating, drinking and outdoor adventures on offer in Perth is a killer festival scene that brings all of those excellent elements together. Check out Perth's Fringe World festival, which takes over the city in summer, and features hundreds of incredible global acts. There's loads of standup, theatre, cabaret, sketch comedy and heaps more to discover at the third-largest Fringe festival in the world. Or explore the other festivals on offer, from live music to Beerfests, the annual Perth Festival and a line-up of regional events, to Perth’s Twilight Hawkers Markets, outdoor movies and art events.
