Here’s Exactly Where To Find The Best Cherries In Victoria

By

For Victorians, this summer is bringing with it many glorious things—like being able to drink a pint at the pub and the ability to stay out past 9pm—but a more wholesome phenomenon is the welcoming of the state’s cherry season, and specifically The Cherry Trail.

The Cherry Trail consists of eight cherry farms dotted across the state from the Mornington Peninsula, The Yarra Valley and right up into the Macedon Ranges—and the best part, you can wander the orchards and pick the cherries yourself at many of them.

The cherry lover in us all is spoiled for choice when heading towards the Yarra Valley with Coldstream’s Big Fella Cherries, Blue Hills Berries and Cherries in Silvan, and Cherryhill Orchards in Wandin all offering up the bucolic experience of harvesting your own. Meanwhile, those making a day of it down in the ‘Ninch should head to Red Hill Cherry Farm to pluck their own directly from the orchard.

November through to Mid January is prime season for ripe and ready cherries, so if you’d prefer a grab-and-go situation where the pro’s will do the harvesting for you, there are several more orchards across the state that’ll take care of that for you on The Cherry Trail—find out more here.

Most Cherry Farms on The Cherry Trail are expected to open early November, but it’s worth checking in with them before you jump in the car because as we all know, the world is a little wild right now and things can change at the drop of a hat.
