Melbourne is about to get a fresh taste of the Basque coast with Côte Basque, the sizzling new project from Andrew McConnell and Jo McGann, the minds behind staples like Gimlet, Marion and Supernormal. Set to open in the heart of the CBD on Crossley Street in winter 2026, this restaurant is ready to ignite your love for woodfired, produce-driven Euro dining.

Taking over the iconic former Becco spot, Côte Basque zeroes in on the rich culture and flavours of the Basque region between northern Spain and southwest France. They'll be serving aromatic woodfired dishes bursting with fresh local ingredients, all presented in a setting that marries mid-century charm with the original green terrazzo floor still intact.

There’ll even be room to soak up the air with outdoor dining, plus a private space for special occasions.

Keep an eye on this space for more details as they roll in—if European flavours combined with stylish atmosphere are your weakness, Côte Basque promises to be an exciting new chapter in Melbourne’s food story you won’t want to miss.
