Get Stuck Into Cucinetta’s ‘Record-Breaking’ 29 Cheese Gnocchi

By Rick Stephens

South Yarra’s Cucinetta holds several unofficial accolades. Coming in at a cosy 29-square-metres, it’s probably Australia’s smallest Italian restaurant, and, if there was a category for charm, they’d most likely take the top spot there, too.

One title that can’t be looked past, however, is the ‘cheesiest gnocchi’ award which deservedly goes to their limited edition 29 cheese gnocchi. As a sort of people’s choice, the team are bringing it back for a third year and once again teaming up with That’s Amore Cheese to ensure the stretchy, gooey dish is dialled for the two weeks it’s on offer.

Like the entire menu at Cucinetta, the dish is prepared with care—you’ve got hand-made gnocchi that strikes the perfect balance of density and fluffiness which is then oven-baked with all that cheese.

As the saying goes, you can’t have too much of a good thing, and with that in mind, Cucinetta’s 29 cheese gnocchi is available Monday 1 April until Sunday 14 April. Book here.

And for those wanting to know exactly what they’re in for, here are all 29 cheeses: Fior di Latte, Buffalo Mozzarella, Burrata, Scamorza Bianca, Caciotta, Pepper Caciotta, Chilli Caciotta, Truffle Caciotta, Ricotta Delicata, Ricotta Salata, Mascarpone, Squacquerone, Buffalo Bocconcini, Buffalo Ricotta, Buffalo Caciotta, Smoked Buffalo Mozzarella, Smoked Bocconcini, Smoked Scamorza, Smoked Caciocavallo, Diavoletto, Secret of The Forest, Drunken Buffalo, Lavato, Panettone, Panettone with Truffle, Caciocavallo, Bufalotto, Blue Cheese and Formaggio di Vacca.
