This Tex-Mex Haven Is Mixing Up Margaritas Based On All Your Favourite Childhood Soft Drinks

By Simon Cassar

Four different coloured Margaritas with different soft drink cans around.

El Camino Cantina, the Tex-Mex hotspot on Brunswick Street Fitzroy is renowned for its cocktail game. Home of the instant classic the Nerds Margarita, this cantina offers a fresh range of exciting margarita flavours each month. This June, El Camino is bringing more nostalgic flavours to spice up the night, inspired this time by our favourite childhood (and adult) soft drinks.

Available from the first of the month El Camino are whipping up margaritas made from frozen Cola, Pasito, Creaming Soda, and Mountain Dew. It’s a real who’s who of the sugar water world.

There’s no skimping on ingredients either, with every cocktail made Cadillac style, with a rich float of Grand Marnier (the good stuff). If you’re indecisive you can get a float of different flavours to try, and if you’re looking for a real night out you can take on a two-litre tower.
(Not a recommendation)

If all those Margaritas are starting to go to your head then you can also level out by sampling one of the 10 new weird and wonderful chicken ribs that El Camino is dropping at the start of June.

With a serious mix of favourites from salt & vinegar to nacho cheese and teriyaki, there’s plenty to dig into.

Looking for somewhere to drink? Right this way.
