After Sell-Out Seasons Overseas, Lightscape Is Returning To The Royal Botanic Gardens

By

Transformed into a world of light, colour and music, step into the Royal Botanic Gardens which is being reimagined into an immersive symphony of sights, Lightscape. Across the RBT, the trails, lakes and garden spaces have been enchanted with glowing installations guaranteed to captivate all of your senses.

The brand new 2.2km lightscape trail will take visitors across the Botanic Gardens through a range of reflections including large-scale illuminated sculptures, never-before-seen artworks and over 100,000 tiny lights along the way.

Lightscape is the perfect winter-night outing with a welcome zone filled with eats and drinks to satisfy any pre or post-Lightscape cravings. Packed with a range of Melbourne’s best food vendors and pop-up bars—there’s a variety of different options to cater to all tastes.

Enter the trail via the Observatory Gate near the Visitor Centre, where the first sessions kick off at 5.15pm, welcoming you to an evening of enchantment and wonder. The Lightscape trail is open from Wednesdays to Sundays, with the last entrance available until 9pm. On Friday and Saturday nights, the last entrance extends to 9.30pm, giving you more time to immerse yourself in the captivating experience.

Whether you choose the peak of excitement or the tranquillity of off-peak hours, there's a pass to suit every explorer at Lightscape. For those seeking the peak experience, adult tickets start at $40, child tickets (4-12 years) at $32, and families can join in for $144. If you prefer a more serene journey, the off-peak pass offers adult tickets at $36, child tickets at $28, and families at $128. For unlimited access, the anytime pass is available for $55.

Following the international success of Lightscape overseas in the UK and US, this is Melbourne’s third debut of the iconic light festival.
