Grab your camera team, Sony’s first-ever Scene Festival just hit Australian shores. They’ve dropped a 100-strong lineup of events hosted by a crew of Sony digital imaging ambassadors and industry experts, bringing its creative events platform to the masses. Festivities kicked off on Friday, 8 September and run through till the end of October, hitting every major city across the country. 

If you’ve been frothing to get started as a creator, photographer or filmmaker—or want to hone your professional expertise—this is your moment. From snapping heavy beach breaks to nailing music videos to getting started in content creation, this year’s inaugural festival is stacked with community-hosted talks, workshops and meetups for lovers of digital imaging—covering every skill level and genre under the sun. 

Never held a camera? No worries. They’ve lined up plenty of classes that cover the basics—from capturing the perfect dog portrait and snapping stunning holiday shots to picking the right gear. Been in the industry for years? There’s a stack of niche workshops for video and photography experts to expand your skillset, masterclasses to help turn your side hustle into a full-time gig, and tutorials to take your skills up a notch—we’re talking workshops in long exposure photography, Lightroom image editing, and mastering everything from underwater shots to macro photography.Woman Holding Camera Sony Scene FestivalYou can even eat your way around the lineup—ideal if learning leaves you feeling peckish. Learn the art of visual storytelling at Seratonin in Port Macquarie through the process of pizza making, join a brunch and coffee session at Fitzroy’s Pony White and nail the ins and outs of food photography, or kick back and connect with other creatives over an evening of wine, cheese and photography.

The festival is backed by a host of experts who are there to help you hone your craft—travel, fashion, lifestyle, food and drink, the arts, live events and entertainment—whatever your passion, they’ll teach you how to capture it in its best light.
