Wine. Cheese. Train. Chocolate. More cheese. Do we need to say more?
Splatters, the first and only cheese train in the Southern Hemisphere has chugged its way up from Geelong to West Melbourne for its second station to give us city-slickers a chance to live out their creamy, cheesy fantasies.
The concept is super simple; grab and stack as many plates as your heart desires (cheese your own adventure if you will) and chow down. There’s a hot menu too, you’ll find a mega mac and cheese, a fondue mug and a hommus bowl drizzled with chili honey and bread. Each plate is colour-coded and they range from $7 to $20.
Everything that comes from this 20-metre conveyor belt is locally sourced Australian artisan producers. Every cheese has a companion, the cream brie goes hand-in-hand with biscoff and apricot fudge and the raw tom (raw milk cheese) is paired with beetroot citrus and sage relish. Each pairing is homemade, they're all secret family recipes, although we did try to weasel the tricks of the trade out of Jo Bangles the owner. She didn't tell us.
We say all-aboard to this all-around edam gouda time. Choo choo over this way for bookings and more information.
