The Verdict
The St Kilda seaside dining institution, Stokehouse opened back in the 80s has long stood as one of the best restaurants in Melbourne, and still does today.
Resting right on the foreshore, the floor-to-ceiling windows provide vistas of Port Phillip Bay. Meanwhile, dining here plays on its coastal aesthetic with a Modern Australian menu laden with fish and seafood as well as top-grade cuts and local produce.
The precinct around the restaurant is also home to fish 'n' chips kiosk Paperfish, and casual grill and eatery Pontoon.
Open every day of the year (except Christmas Day), the all-day bar menu will keep the laid-back charm the name is known for.
