Whether you’re wanting some serious scaring, something kid-friendly or something a little extra— we’ve got the deets for you right here. The Dunstan Creek Haunting

Learn all about the spine-chilling, real-life hauntings from the 1800’s gold rush that happened right here in New Zealand. Spend the evening listening to tales of terror from New Zealand’s dark past, with enough spookiness to chill and thrill the night away.
Night Market’s Spooky Pageant
Te Atatu Night Market, Friday 27th October
Looking for something not-so-scary? Head on down to the night market to enter your kids (or yourself) into their Spooky Pageant and be in to win Rainbow’s End passes and Lalele Organic gelato, yummmm. Bring a picnic blanket and get cosy while watching and enjoy gourmet street food and live music.
Trick Or Treat At Grangers
Half Moon Bay, Friday 27th October
Calling all witches, zombies and vampires. Halloween has come to East Auckland it’s time to boo-gie! Get out the body paint and transform into your fave ghoulish character for Granger’s Trick or Treat event. Kicking off from 9pm this Friday, the freaky party will feature drink specials and prizes for the best dressed. Dance the night away (Michael Jackson Thriller-style, obvs) with tunes from Daize, Warndem, Earl Sweatpants and Daniel Marinov. Drink up, witches!
Blood Moon Ball

Get along to the Halloween party of your nightmares this weekend hosted by none other than Glory Days in support of the Very Vintage Day Out 2017. Get involved with tarot readings, photobooth fun, a live brass band and Burlesque stars to mesmerise you all night long. There will also be magicians and acrobats from Lucky Thirteen Entertainment to keep you right on the edge of your seat. A Hauntingly Good Time at MOTAT

This Halloween MOTAT invites you to put your nerves to the test and see your nightmares come to life at this historic wonderland, complete with goulish characters, spooky mazes and many more terrifying surprises lurking in the shadows. Journey through the haunted Dolls House or the Carnival of Lost Souls if you dare; meet an embalmer and taxidermist ready and waiting for human volunteers, or join in on a ghostly wedding in the Victorian Village, plus so much more horrifying entertainment.
Halloween In The Village

This one is bound to send your kids into Halloween overdrive, with its spooky and interactive entertainment. Wrangle your little monsters and get them involved in the madness, including fear factor challenges (taste the food, if you dare), creepy Halloween craft, fortune telling and more!
Stardome Observatory & Planetarium, One Tree Hill Domain
Not keen on letting the kids out to take candy from strangers? Bring them along to one of the family-friendly sessions at Stardome where a haunted foyer, spooky science experiments and goody bags are all included. Or, if you’re riding solo for the night check out the adults-only sessions to learn all of the horrifying stories behind the names of the constellations.

Saturday Night Frights
Rainbows End, Saturday 28th October
Saturday Night Frights have been scaring off our socks for the last month and if you haven’t gotten down yet, this weekend is your last chance to experience the excitement for yourself! There’s unlimited rides till 11pm and the opportunity to experience the terrifying Terror Paradise walk through a zombie land. Your mission is to find the antidote while avoiding the deadly zombies. Be prepared for a scare.
Hell Horror Fest NZ
ASB Showgrounds,Tuesday 31 October – Saturday 4 November, 6 – 11.30pm
A festival celebrating all things horror is brought to you by Hell Pizza. Come get lost in the purpose-built horror maze while having the daylights scared out of you by monsters you’d rather not imagine. Once/if you survive the maze, enjoy a drive-in (scary af) movie and pizza…lots of pizza. There’s a different theme each night ranging from clowns to childhood fears to horror classics, depending on the movie screening that night.
Day of The Dead

Forget the freaky, the Day of The Dead is all about celebrating the lives of those who have now departed.
