An alpine climber navigates ice sheets within a rocky crag

Banff Mountain Film Festival is the largest, and one of the most prestigious, mountain festivals in the world. The NZ tour, proudly hosted by the New Zealand Alpine Club, runs from late April through to June in 14 locations around the country.

This year there are four short film programmes to choose from, including an online one, each featuring unrivalled photography, mind-bending soundtracks and feats of human persistence that’ll leave you speechless. Think snowy mountaintops, the depths of the ocean, nail-biting cliff faces, gravity-defying feats and incredible landscapes.

Tickets are already on sale for Auckland, Rotorua, New Plymouth, Nelson, Christchurch, Napier, Timaru and Queenstown screenings with more locations to be released soon. You can be sure they’ll sell out like freeze-dried apple crumble at the end of a long day tramping so gather your crew, pick your programme, and snap up some tickets before it’s too late.
