If you're a Kiwi of a certain age, chances are your childhood birthday parties consisted of three main treats—cheerios, sausage rolls and fairy bread. Now Shake Out is bringing you right on back to the days of pass-the-parcel and pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, with a magical Fairy Bread Shake that's a legit party in the mouth.
If you're on the younger side (or are simply asking 'fairy what?'), here's the dealio. Fairy bread is really a rather humble dish, bringing together just two ingredients: hundreds and thousands, and buttered white bread. It was especially popular during the late 80s/early 90s, however we're pleased to report that this colourful creation can still be found gracing the table at birthday parties today.
Shake Out is paying tribute to this classic treat by taking their ice-cold, creamy NZ dairy blend and mixing it up with vanilla, a buttery shortbread crumb and the pièce de résistance—a layer of tiny, rainbow-coloured sprinkles. One sip of this sweetie, and we promise you'll be feeling like a kid all over again.
So what do you say, do you wanna come to the fairy bread party? If the answer is yes, be sure to RSVP (aka visit your local Shake Out, stat), because this treat—unlike the one it's based on—is strictly limited-edition.
