Amaroo Luxury Retreat Perth

Less than one hour from the Perth CBD a luxury retreat awaits that’s perfect for your next staycay.

Amaroo Retreat & Spa in Mount Helena is everything our tired, weary souls need. Tucked into the stunning foothills of the Darling Scarp, the retreat offers a whole lot of seclusion among the flora and fauna of the Perth Hills bushland.

Set on 55 acres, the property boasts luxury chalets kitted out with all of the good stuff. Each offers tranquil views of trees, outdoor spa baths, luxurious bathrooms with double showers, free in-house movies and beautiful verandahs.

Then there’s the spa. It wouldn’t be a retreat without some hardcore relaxation, and you’ll get just that at Amaroo Spa. From hot stone and aromatherapy massages to facials and body exfoliation treatments, the therapists are pros at encouraging your mind to drift off to a world of bliss. And to keep your skin happy, they use only the best products from PAYOT alongside some local WA products.

After a long, hard day of massages and facials, you'll want to head to the restaurant and indulge in a three-course meal and a cocktail or four. Try the dirty chai or the fruit tingle—grape liquor, vodka, blue curacao, lemonade and grenadine—or pick from their long list of espresso martinis, the toasted marshmallow is sure to have you weak at the knees. If you prefer to keep things simple, the paloma or their classic mojito is for you.

When it comes to the food, you can't go wrong. Opt for the two-course menu for $65, or treat yourself to three tastebud-tingling courses for just $75. The oysters and scallops are both definitely a good idea when it comes to entrees, but there's also pork belly bites and crumbed halloumi which we have no doubt would go down a treat.

For mains, the catch of the day never disappoints. Served with herb mash, greens, yuzu beurre blanc sauce and citrus slaw, it's as fresh as it is delicious. Not into seafood? The MSA scotch fillet with bacon and potatoes or the wild mushroom risotto might be more up your alley. Finish up with the white chocolate and rum mousse (or another espresso martini, no judgement) and you've got yourself the perfect night. All you need to do now is roll back to your chalet for a night of undisturbed slumber.

The restaurant is open to both guests of the retreat and the public, so there's a nice buzzy vibe but if you want ultimate relaxation, you can also have room service delivered and you can enjoy the night on your own private deck.

Once you’re feeling suitably relaxed, there’s no shortage of things to do nearby. Head out to a winery or cidery or go on a hike in the nearby bushland or do some yoga on the verandah with the yoga mats provided.

Time to put your life on pause and book a cosy escape in the hills? We think so.
