The Best Costume Shops In Perth

By Alexis Donkin - 13 Oct 2016

We all know how exciting it is when the invite drops or, more likely, pops up on our Facebook events list. 'YES! I finally get to wear that banging outfit I HAD to buy but has been sitting idle in my wardrobe.' Then you realise it's a dress-up party and you silently curse the host.

But we all know, the more you get into a theme, the more fun you have at the party, so you'd better got a costume sorted stat. The good news is, gone are the days when costume shops are dark, dreary and dusty.

Here are a few of the best costume shops in Perth, so go on, RSVP—it's time to party.

Doyles Fancy Costumes

Wangara & Osborne Park

"Clothes make a statement, costumes tell a story." That's the motto at Doyles. With over 300 square metres worth of fancy dress to choose from, you're sure to find something here. Open six days a week and late night Thursday, a friendly staff member can help you choose from over 1000 costumes for sale and thousands more for hire. If you choose to buy there's a next day delivery service and it's free for purchases over $75.

Walk the Plank Costume Hire

Burswood

No, it's not a mistake. One of Perth's most iconic costume stores relocated from South Perth to Burswood Road last September. Costume fanatic Jac owns and runs Walk the Plank with her daughter Victoria. Friendly and helpful service is the reason customers have walked the plank for 20 years. One of their favourite events on the social calendar is fast approaching—Halloween. Each year the shop is transformed into a spooky spectacular. Parking is at the rear, but beware, there may be a zombie lurking.

Hocus Pocus

Kalamunda

Perched up on the hill, this hidden gem offers it all. If you're unsure about what costume to choose, ask for Tracey. She and her family own Hocus Pocus and are super passionate about making every customer look and feel the part. One of their most popular themes is Star Wars. So, if that's what you're looking for—happy hiring and may the force be with you.

Party Town

Claremont

This store has got you covered, literally, from head to toe to your tabletop. Party Town offers event planning, help choose your decorations, balloons, tableware and lollybags for the kids or the adults. Costumes are not for hire, but there are plenty to purchase and prices are reasonable, starting at as little as $19.95 for the little ones.

Costumes In The Valley

Midvale

Costumes in the Valley offers a fantastic range of masquerade & Halloween masks if that sort of thing tickles your fancy. You can find colourful and vibrant face paints, wigs, corsets, hosiery and hundreds of other party accessories in store.

Never Grow Up

Alfred Cove

Owner/Manager Hannah says anyone planning a costume party should call Never Grow Up because they offer a free registration service which gives your guests 20% discount on their hired costumes. Don’t be fooled by the name, adults are well looked after here too. Ladies, if you have a Hens party coming up, Hannah's team will help you style your complete outfit, accessories included, for as little as $50.

Party Frenzy

Rivervale

It's a hat frenzy at Party Frenzy. These guys are renowned for stocking Perth’s biggest and best range of hats. Prices are impressive too, starting at just $9 to $60 for something a little more extravagant. If it’s your party and you need some help with statement decorations, Party Frenzy offer balloon arches as wide as six metres, talk about making an entrance. All costumes are for sale only, but you'll love them so much you wouldn't want to give them back anyway.
