A Luxe Adults-Only Cabin Retreat Has Opened In Esperance, And It’s Every Bit As Dreamy As It Sounds

Just when we thought we couldn’t love Esperance more, say hello to Box Hill, a brand-new adults-only stay upping the ante on coastal luxury down south.

Set on a secluded 650 acre nature retreat, and tucked just a stone’s throw west of town (12 kilometres to be exact), this boutique hideaway has launched with two luxe architect-designed cabins. Privacy? We love to see it.

In stage one caretakers Anna and Alex Martins have brought to life Yate and York, two upscale cabins designed for two. Picture this: freestanding stone bathtub, crackling fireplace, and a firepit under the stars. It’s the kind of place you nestle into and never want to leave. 

Each cabin comes kitted out with a king-sized suite, open-plan kitchen and living area, bespoke local artwork, and materials pulled straight from the landscape. Design lovers will spot MCM House linen couches and local art by Tammy Andrews.

At the heart of each cabin is a show-stopping fireplace built from spongolite, a 40-million-year-old fossilised rock found in both Esperance and Brazil. It’s a perfect nod to owners Anna and Alex, whose own story spans both worlds.

Despite the luxe touches, Box Hill keeps things refreshingly grounded. It’s a working farm, so while you’re soaking in the tub or sipping wine by the fire, you’ll spot sheep and kangaroos grazing nearby like it’s no big deal. Entirely off-grid, the retreat runs on solar power and harvested rainwater, proving you don’t need to sacrifice comfort for consciousness.
