There’s nothing more cosy than a day out at the cinemas—and whether you’re in the mood for a big blockbuster hit, or something a little more fabulous and foreign, there's plenty of top spots to catch a flick in Perth.

From old school charmers to high-tech marvels, great value spots to gold class luxury, we've rounded up our fave places around town.

Grab the popcorn, here are Perth's best cinemas.

Luna Leederville

Leederville

Sitting proudly on the corner of Oxford Street in Leedy, this absolute institution has stood the test of time and oozes with old world charm and character. Due to its popularity, the cinema has expanded out since its conception with a fab outdoor cinema perfect for sitting under the stars on a balmy night, plus a revamped bar great for a few pre-show bevvies with pals. Once you’re done, you can wander your way down this bustling strip for a feed too.

Cinema Paradiso

Northbridge

We wouldn’t blame you for accidentally wandering straight past Cinema Paradiso. This unassuming, relatively hidden little cinema has stood for decades on James Street—always ready and waiting for an arvo matinee or an evening film to kick off date night. Each of the six cinemas has its own flair themed uniquely with art deco or Mediterranean inspirations taking you on a journey far from the streets of Northbridge. Bon voyage.

HOYTS

Karrinyup

With the massive multi-million dollar reno of Karrinyup Shopping Precinct has also come a fantastic revival of HOYTS with futuristic high-tech cinemas that’ll make you feel as though you’ve entered a sci-fi set—including Perth's first D-Box cinema with seats that rumble with the action on screen. Situated amongst an endless slew of amazing bars and eateries, you can take your classic movie and dinner date plan to a whole new level with your hardest choice being to decide which cool place to visit first. With super wide seats, plenty of fun events plus some great specials and holiday deals, you can always count on these guys to bring you the action.

Palace Cinemas

Perth CBD

The luxurious Palace Cinemas is nestled on the top floor of Raine Square and not only boasts an epic terrace bar overlooking all of Yagan Square and beyond, but also has a super chic bar lounge that gives off seriously decadent vibes and pours wines by the glass, with sizes suitable for every feature length. Palace has all the big new releases, and is also often home to a stack of foreign film festivals and special screenings all right in the beating heart of our CBD.

Reading Cinemas

Belmont

If you’re after a great value viewing, Reading Cinemas are your guys. This ten-screen features stadium seating, luxury Gold Lounge theatres plus their famous Titan XC Auditorium for those film buffs that demand an absolute premium experience. Unlike many other big venues, Reading keep their tickets under $20 so that watching a film doesn’t have to completely stifle your budgeting for the month.

Windsor Cinemas

Nedlands

We love a trip to this Stirling Highway cinema any day of the week thanks to its charming interiors, intimate corners for a cheeky drink and the eclectic range of Hollywood and indie films constantly rotating. If you love a bargain, you may not know that they even team up with their neighbours at Maharaja Indian Bistro (some of the best Indian around might we add) for a $15 ticket and 10% meal special when you make a booking in advance. Talk about double delight.

ACE Cinemas

Rockingham and Midland

ACE Cinemas are a Western Australian owned biz that have been around for over 60 years celebrating local film makers and bringing millions of smiles to generations of visitors. These guys work alongside a tonne of other great local companies like RAC and other insurance funds to offer super cheap tickets, as well as pumping out some pretty unbelievable other pop-up deals to help you save pennies whilst enjoying their state-of-the art cinemas and new release iconic big name films.

Luna On SX

Fremantle

In the middle of Freo’s legendary South Terrace coffee strip sits Luna on SX, a small character-filled cinema that feels slightly more like a private screening venue that is hidden in plain sight. Come enjoy the Freo Doctor breeze out in the leafy outdoor seating area before catching a great film in one of their awesome boutique-style cinemas. Make a day or night of it and explore the heritage streets of this beloved port city once you’re done.

Rooftop Movies

Northbridge

Nothing says Summer more than a steamy night out sitting on a colourful bean bag and looking out at our magnificent twinkling cityscape at the Rooftop Movies. Most movie-goers head there early to nab their prime position, order themselves one of the legendary pizzas, raid the snack bar and catch a majestic sunset. With a wild array of cult classics, 90s hits and new smashes, there’s always something for everyone throughout the season.

Come summertime, you can also hit up our fave outdoor cinemas in Perth.
