It’s time to gather your pals for a cosy night out because the legends behind FRINGE WORLD Festival and Rooftop Movies have announced that Girls School Cinema in East Perth will finally re-open for winter.

The 2020 season will kick off on Thursday 30 July with a series of WA short films followed by Australian feature films, including the heartfelt H is for Happiness and The Australian Dream, which showcases the remarkable story of AFL legend Adam Goodes. The opening weekend also falls on Harry Potter’s birthday, so expect a two-day Harry Potter marathon, Butterbeer and of course, a spot of quidditch in the front courtyard.

Make sure you bring your appetite because Mack Daddy’s New York Slice will be slinging slices of their cheesy goodness. There will also be open fire pits for marshmallow toasting and plenty of popcorn, of course. Head to the bar and lounge and grab a craft beer from Gage Roads Brewing Co. or a Margaret River wine from MadFish to wash it all down.

If you can’t make it to the opening weekend, that’s okay—the first program boasts an awesome line-up of 2020 blockbusters, 80s doubles, old favourites and more, with movies showing every Tuesday to Sunday until 24 October.

Want to win the ultimate Girls School Cinema experience? All you need to do is purchase any Girls School Cinema ticket before 30 August and you’ll go in the running to win a private screening for yourself and nine mates plus champagne, pizza and bottomless popcorn.

Until then, here are some more amazing things to do in Perth.
