A major new community precinct is headed to Girrawheen, with Hawaiian's Newpark set to welcome an expansive outdoor space complete with public basketball court, nature playground and immersive Firewise Garden.

Dubbed Hawaiian's Newpark Community Corner, the 760-square-metre precinct has received development approval and is expected to open in September 2026. At the heart of the new space will be a full public basketball court, alongside a family-friendly Firewise Garden featuring a slide, water play elements, sandpit and interactive nature play features. According to Hawaiian, it's the first project of its kind at a WA shopping centre and could help shape future community-focused developments across its portfolio.

The new addition, designed in collaboration with the local community, the City of Wanneroo, The Forever Project and Firewise, aims to transform an underutilised section of the shopping centre into a free community hub and follows Hawaiian's recent investment in Newpark, including the introduction of its alfresco dining precinct and broader centre upgrades aimed at improving accessibility, connectivity and community use.

Construction is expected to begin this month, with the precinct scheduled for completion in September.
