Big moves are being made up on the coast. George Kailis and his hospitality group (the brains behind Cottesloe’s award-winning Gibney) have snapped up the entire hospitality precinct at the luxe new ORA Sorrento development in a $12 million deal—one of the most significant coastal acquisitions WA’s seen in decades.
We’re talking more than 1,000sqm of prime beachfront real estate, sitting pretty on West Coast Drive with uninterrupted views over Sorrento Beach. While the exact concepts are still under wraps, expect three to four distinct venues, all stitched together under one cohesive vision. If Gibney, with it’s slew of awards and cult following, is anything to go by, expect these new spots to raise the bar for Perth’s coastal dining scene.
The group is once again teaming up with Rezen Studio, the design powerhouse that brought Gibney’s interiors to life, to dream up a world-class dining environment that matches the beachfront setting. Think stunning architecture, next-level interiors, and hospitality experiences unlike anything Perth’s north has seen before.
With much of the celebrated Gibney team, including Group Sommelier Nina Throsby and Bar Director James Gentile, being pulled in on the project, you can expect the same high calibre of execution. Construction is set to kick off in late 2026, with doors opening shortly after.
While we're already looking forward to the lavish glow up, work isn't expected to commence on the new hospitality spaces until late 2026 to early 2027. In the meantime, watch this space.
