McCallum Park Active Area Brings A $4.8M Sport Precinct To Vic Park
After more than a decade of planning and development, the new $4.8 million multi-sport precinct, delivered with support from the Western Australia Government is now open, along the Swan River in Victoria Park. The revitalised park includes upgraded basketball courts, a competition-ready skate plaza, a new BMX pump track, and community spaces.
The Skate Bowl features two levels and a rail along the top, accommodating both beginner and experienced skaters, as well as a junior scooter track and spectator zone making the space inclusive for all.
The space features large-scale artworks of local Indigenous artists Kamsani Bin Salleh and Chris Nixon that recognise the important land connection to the Swan River and the cultural significance of the area.
Minister for Sport and Recreation Rita Saffioti said says "The McCallum Park Active Area is a great example of the WA Government's commitment to delivering modern, inclusive infrastructure that brings people together.”
Located alongside the newly completed Causeway Pedestrian and Cyclist Bridges, the park is easily accessible and designed to support healthier, better-connected communities for years to come.
The McCallum Park Active Area works are funded by major Sponsors:
- The Commonwealth through its Investing in our Communities program - $2.5 million
- The State Government through the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund - $926,653
