The National Ballooning Championships Are Taking Over The Skies Of Northam This May

Written by: Claire Logan

Calling all photographers (and anyone who appreciates a bit of early morning beauty). More than 20 hot air balloons will be filling the sky in Northam as part of the National Ballooning Championships (yes, those are a thing), which returns to Northam for the first time in six years this May.

Hot air balloon pilots from around the world will be descending upon Northam and the Avon Valley to test their skills from 6 to 13 May, so if you don't mind an early start, why not get out there and watch the sunrise with hot air balloons filling the sky.

Festivities kick off on Saturday 6 May with the Elevate Festival—live music, food stalls, drinks and plenty of family fun—and the speccy Balloon Glow happening in the evening which is exactly what it sounds like—loads of hot air balloons glowing in the sky after dark.

Less than a 90-minute drive from Perth, why not head down for the weekend to check it out, and of course, book your own hot air balloon ride while you're there!

Until then, head here for more awesome things to do in Perth.
