Perth’s Best Hottest 100 Parties Worth Leaving Your Backyard For

Perhaps the biggest day on the Aussie musical calendar, this Saturday 23rd of January is a time for celebration and non-stop debates about how your fave band “should have been higher” despite not actually bothering to cast a vote of your own.

Yep, we’re talking about triple j’s infamous Hottest 100—a countdown of the very best music from the past year, voted by the music-loving public. And while we do enjoy a classic Hottest 100 house party, these events are reason enough to ditch the backyard for something bigger.

Drumroll please, here’s our countdown of Perth’s best Hottest 100 parties. Best of all, these are all free—good news for anyone who missed out on the bigger ticketed events.

Freo.Social

Fremantle

Fremantle is home to some of WA’s biggest music acts so why not pay homage to the music-loving city by snagging a spot at Freo.Social for the countdown. Triple j will be pumping throughout the huge venue from 12pm, with DJs taking over once it’s done so you can extend the celebrations well into the night. Just make sure you get down early if you want a table, it’s gonna be a busy one.

Henry Summer

Northbridge

Round up your music-loving mates and kick back in the lush surrounds of Henry Summer from 11am. They’ll be slinging some fair dinkum food and drink offers to celebrate Australia’s favourite countdown. We’re talking a Bunnings style sausage sizzle, free party pies and sausage rolls, and $6 bush chooks.

The Rosemount Hotel

NORTH PERTH

As one of Perth’s most-loved live music haunts for big acts and newcomers alike, honestly it seems pretty fitting to celebrate the countdown at the Rosie. Those super keen can start bright and early as they’ll be blaring the countdown from 9am, along with plenty of drink specials to keep you going all day. Pull up a pew in the leafy courtyard and call it a day.

The Newport Hotel

Fremantle

If you really want to kick your Hottest 100 day festivities up a gear, The Newport takes the top spot. They’re going all out, extending the shindig into the Paddy Troy Mall and fitting out the venue with pool inflatables, a dunk tank, laneway bar, and silent disco playing the Hottest 100 hits of yesteryear. Not to mention there’ll be $6 pints of VB all day, giant fishbowl cocktails and karaoke rooms so you can belt out your faves if they don’t make it into the official countdown. I mean, what more could you ask for?
