Booze, Beats And Bottomless Vibes: Perth’s Newest Festival Has Landed

Raise a glass, summer’s unofficial opening party is here.

It’s no secret we Perth locals love nothing more than the simple pleasures of booze, quality bites, and time spent with our mates, and that's exactly what Perth's newest festival is serving up.

From the crew behind some of our favourite nights out (Oktoberfest in the Gardens, The Beaufort, The Old Synagogue, and more) comes PICNIC Festival, an ode to all that makes a Perth summer so lovable.

As the warm weather brews, so does a much-needed boozy weekend to welcome the silly season, and what better place to do it than beneath the setting sun on the South Perth Foreshore. Kicking off for two days from Friday 28 November, and with three separate sessions available to choose from, there’s something for everyone, from the family friendly day session on Saturday to 18+ only antics on Friday and Saturday nights.

This brand-new boutique festival isn’t about spending all your time in one spot, it's about moving around and exploring. Think, hopping around pop-up pubs (big yes!), singing your lungs out at a silent disco, laughing at a comedy show, sipping away at a tasting session, and if that’s not enough you can get the adrenaline pumping with amusement rides and sideshow games.

At the heart of the festival are four ‘party pods’ to explore, each with dedicated themes and soundtracks to set the mood. Think mirror balls and disco groove for Neon Disco, country bangers and boot scootin at Honky Tonk Hideout, a Triple M Perth sponsored rock fest at Riff City, and 80s, 90s and noughties party jams in Mixtape Mill. Dressing up isn’t mandatory, but highly encouraged (and why wouldn’t you?).

On the booze and bites side of things, PICNIC Festival is bringing good times on tap with beers, wines, cider, cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and even tasting paddles from a heap of WA’s beloved venues. Expect to sip from legends like Gage Roads, Swings and Roundabouts, Matsos, CBCo Brewing, Vasse Felix, and Better Beer, to name just a few, while beloved locals like Pink Taquito and Baolicious coming along to supply eats in The Taste Oasis.

Need more? There’s a tonne of immersive experiences to get involved in, from Barrel Room wine tastings, Booze Barn events, and even a butcher battle.

Here’s to starting summer off with a bang, booze in hand, beats in the air, and mates by your side.
