In big news for dads all around the country, Brisbane legends Powderfinger have announced their making a comeback.
A solid 16 years after the band went their separate ways, the Aussie music icons have confirmed on Instagram that they’ll be reuniting for a string of shows next year.
“We always said that if we were going to get back together to do some shows, you guys would be the first to know and so now you’re the first to know.” said Bernard Fanning in the video. “We’re going to do some shows all around Australia from September next year.”
The tour kicks off in Brisbane at the Showgrounds with four shows on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 September, then Friday 10 and Saturday 11 September. Next is Cairns, where there'll be taking over Cazalys Stadium on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 September, before heading west for Perth's Wellington Square on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 September. Sydney gets another four shows at The Domain on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 October, then Friday 8 and Saturday 9 October. Ellis Park in Adelaide will host Powderfinger on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 October, and finally the tour will wrap in Melbourne Park on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 September, as well as Friday 29 and Saturday 30 October.
Powderfinger have announced they'll be curating an all-Australian lineup of support acts, sharing their legacy with emerging homegrown talent. The tour is also in partnership with Mission Australia: an organisation helping Australians experiencing homelessness. Yep, there's plenty of feel-good energy beyond the return of the national icons.
