  • Sal Salis glamping retreat in Western Australia

One of Australia’s most celebrated eco-luxury retreats is about to get even more jaw-dropping.

A 90-minute drive from Learmonth Airport, Sal Salis is all about laidback luxury with minimal impact. An iconic barefoot luxury camp located between the beautiful beaches of WA's Ningaloo Marine Park and the rugged red hills of Cape Range National Park, yes you’ll be glamping and also yes, this glamping is like nothing you’ve experienced before.

Excitingly, Sal Salis is undergoing a major $5 million refurbishment ahead of its 2027 season, with bookings now open for those keen to be among the first to experience the transformed property.

Designed by renowned global design firm Woods Bagot, the refurbishment is a significant upgrade across every touchpoint of the safari-style camp. All 16 Wilderness Tents will be completely overhauled with new ensuite bathrooms and furniture, while a new reception area, central sundeck and lounge will set the scene on arrival.

The dining area has been reimagined with banquette-style seating and a new bar, and the culinary offering has been elevated to reflect the surrounding environment, with locally sourced produce showcasing the bush and ocean, paired with WA wines and regional beers. The refurbished camp is set to reopen in late March 2027.

For those unfamiliar, Sal Salis sits steps from the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef, one of the world’s most pristine marine ecosystems, and remains one of the few places in Australia where you can fall asleep to the sound of the ocean and wake up to humpback whales breaching from your private deck.

As you might imagine, a stay at Sal Salis comes with a hefty price tag, but the all-inclusive experience covers everything from expert-guided gorge walks and snorkelling along the Ningaloo coastline to kayaks, paddleboards and evening sundowners at the Lodge, with return road transfers from Learmonth Airport and national park fees included (and of course, the exclusivity factor). Snorkelling equipment is provided to explore a reef home to more than 500 species of fish and 250 coral types.

What has always set Sal Salis apart is the balance it strikes between both genuine wilderness and luxury. Only 16 tents means the camp retains an intimacy that larger properties simply can’t replicate, and the all-inclusive experience, covering food, drinks, guided activities and transfers, means the only decision guests need to make is how much or how little they want to do each day.

With the 2027 refurbishment raising the bar on both the design and the dining, it’s shaping up to be the most exciting iteration of Sal Salis yet.

Go for your milestone birthday, go for your anniversary, go for your honeymoon—just make sure you go once in your lifetime.

Bookings from March 2027 onwards available here.
