How Do I Get To Claremont Showground?
The best way to get to Spilt Milk at Claremont Showgrounds is via Claremont Station, which basically drops you at the front door.
From 7pm onwards, you can also jump on the free non-stop shuttle buses home from Shenton Road or Gugeri Street, running direct to Perth City or Stirling Station so you can swap onto connecting services. Easy.
Rideshares and taxis can drop you at the Ashton Avenue carpark, with pick-ups happening on Railway Road just past Loch Street. If you’ve booked a private or party bus, they’ll be able to roll straight through Gate 7 off Ashton Avenue and drop you inside the grounds at the alternate entry.
You can plan your journey with Transperth here.
Can I Park At Claremont Showground?
The short answer is yes, you can drive—if you’re willing to brave the traffic and road closures. With limited options and no official parking near Claremont Showground, we’d really only recommend it if you’ve got someone happy to drop you off and pick you up.
Otherwise, skip the stress and stick to public transport and the free event shuttles home.
Road Closures
There are a stack of road closures around Claremont Showground on event day, so don’t expect to be able to cruise right up to the gate. Key streets like Graylands Road, Tiger Way and sections of Shenton Road, Gugeri Road and Ashton Avenue will be closed to public traffic, along with a bunch of the smaller surrounding avenues between late morning and midnight.
Translation: driving and trying to park nearby is going to be painful. Give yourself extra time, get dropped a little further away if you’re in a car, or better yet, jump on the train and let Transperth deal with the chaos.
What Are The Conditions of Entry?
You must have a valid ticket to scan at entry (maybe obvious, but arguably the most important!)
To keep things safe and fun for everyone, Spilt Milk has a pretty strict “what you can’t bring” list. Before you start packing your bag, here’s the gist of what to leave at home.
- Bags larger than A4 (including handbags and baby bags) are not permitted
- Alcohol and beverages (other than where purchased at the Event)
- Illegal substances, Weapons of any kind or any item that resembles a weapon
- Glass of any kind (including perfume bottles and make-up containers)
- Metal water bottles, Aerosol Cans, Liquid and creams over 110mL
- Unidentifiable or unsealed medication. All medication must be inspected by qualified medical staff through the accessibility lane
- Any video and audio recording devices excluding smart phones
- Professional still cameras including DSLR’s (Pocket sized film and digital cameras allowed)
- Animals (with the exception of service or assistance animals, such as Guide Dogs)
- Promotional material or items of any kind including flags, banners, posters and signs, or that display political, religious or offensive signage or logos of any kind.
- Gang-related insignia and masks, headwear or helmets, large spiked wrist or neck bands, spiked or studded belts
- Doof sticks, totem poles, selfie sticks or umbrellas (please use a plastic poncho or a raincoat instead)
- Noise making devices and musical instruments
- Food not for personal consumption
- Broadcasting or transmission equipment
- Laser pens or pointers
- Skateboards and rollerblades, hover-boards, scooters, bicycles, and other personal motorised and non-motorised vehicles (excluding mobility aids)
- Flags or flagpoles of any kind
- Flares, Fireworks & Sparklers (or any other similar flammables)
- All unapproved unmanned aerial systems (UAS) or drones unless expressly authorised
On top of that, security and event staff can knock back anything they decide is dangerous or offensive on the day, so when in doubt, don’t bring it. Check the official Spilt Milk site before you go for the full, up-to-date list.
Where Can I Eat and Drink Before and After The Show?
You’re spoilt for choice around Claremont and greater Perth, so there’s no excuse for rolling into Spilt Milk on an empty stomach.
If you want to stay close, The Claremont Hotel is your best bet with their classic pub feeds, seafood, cold beers and spritzes all within strolling distance of the Showground. It’s ideal for a proper sit-down meal and a couple of drinks before you wander over.
Kicking off the day in Fremantle instead? Line your stomach at Peggy’s with a ridiculous sandwich and iced coffee, or swing by Gesha for seriously good coffee and a solid breakfast before you jump on the train.
Post-festival, head into the city or Northbridge for a late bite. NAO Ramen will sort you out with a hot bowl of noodles and broth, while Authentic Bites Dumpling House is perfect for sharing dumplings with the crew and rehashing your favourite sets. If you’ve still got fuel in the tank, bars like Benny’s in Freo will happily keep the night going.
What Are My Food And Drinks Options In The Showground?
Spilt Milk brings in a solid mix of food trucks and pop-up stalls, so expect all the usual festival go-tos—think burgers, loaded fries, tacos, pizza slices, noodles and dumplings, plus vego and vegan options scattered throughout.
There are multiple bars pouring beer, cider, basic spirits and seltzers, with different bar areas spread around the site so you’re not stuck in one massive line all night. Free water stations are dotted across the grounds too, so remember to grab a cup or two to hydrate between drinks.
Hot tip: lines always spike straight after the big sets, so if you can sneak in an earlier or slightly later food run, your future self will thank you.
If you’re sticking it out til the end, take your time making your way to the exit. Several of the food operators and stalls will stay open for another 30mins to help re-energise you for the trip home.
Best After Parties To Attend?
Keep the party going at the official Spilt Milk afters rolling on at The Vault, Smile High Club and Jack Rabbit Slims—you never know who might show up.
