Squid Game’s Back For A Final Season: Here’s What You Need To Know

By

It’s been nearly four years since Squid Game first crash-tackled its way into lives (and our nightmares), taking seemingly innocent children’s games and turning them into physical psychological competitions of life and death. Mostly death, if we’re being honest.

Now, the global phenomenon that broke Netflix records, sparked countless Halloween costumes and gave an all-new meaning to ‘red light, green light’, is gearing up for one final twisted, terrifying round. Squid Game Season 3 drops on Netflix on June 27, bringing the deeply unhinged saga to a close.

Netflix Squid Game 3

If you're one of the very few people on the planet who didn’t watch the previous seasons, Squid Game is the deadly dystopian thriller that pits desperate contestants against each other in high-stakes versions of childhood games, all for the chance to win a life-changing stack of cash.

Season 3 picks up right where we left off—our tortured king Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is out of the game but far from done. At the tail end of the previous season, Gi-hun learned the horrifying truth behind The Front Man after losing his bestie Jung-bae in that shocker of a scene.

Now, he’s on a mission to take down the game once and for all. But, as we all know, it’s never that simple in the Squid Game. The Front Man has his own sinister plan brewing, and the surviving players’ choices come with even darker consequences. It’s all building to one final, gun-punching crescendo that writer, director and producer Hwang Dong-hyuk promises will give us the closure we crave.

We won’t reveal much more than that, but we can tell you that the cast is stacked. We’ll see familiar faces Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun back for the final season, alongside some new actors in the teal tracksuit: Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Sung-hoon and more. Expect new alliances, major plot twists and some questionable choices.

It’s all happening on Netflix on June 27, but the hype starts now and will extend far beyond the series finale. No doubt we’ll see wild fan theories, Tiktok breakdowns, memes, and yes, a whole new wave of tracksuits and eerie masks come October.

With just under a month until Squid Game's third and final season is released, you’ve got just enough time to rewatch the first two seasons, re-live the trauma and get emotionally prepared. You’re not going to want to miss this one. Catch it on Netflix from 27 June.
