Spotted all the construction happening around West Perth’s Pickle District while heading onto the freeway? A new hotel, a rooftop restaurant and bar, UKO apartments and an ALDI are among the first arrivals planned for the brand spanking new Sydney Charles Quarter (SCQ), a mammoth new village precinct currently taking shape.

Expected to open in stages from the start of 2027, with a possible hotel soft opening as early as mid-December 2026, we’ve been snooping around for all the details and are pretty staggered by the scale of the huge new ‘village’ originally estimated at around $107 million dollars.

At the centre of the first wave will be the slick new Radisson Perth Hotel due to officially open at the start of 2027. It’ll be Radisson’s first hotel in Australasia that will sit alongside Syd’s, a chic Iberian-inspired rooftop restaurant and bar that’ll boast some pretty insane CBD views. As the rooftop’s sole occupier, it’s set to pair city views with the warmth and energy of Iberian dining: bright, produce-led dishes, charcoal cooking and a drinks list made for discovery.

The rest of SCQ’s first arrivals are expected to follow through early 2027. UKO Co-Living is due to open at the end of January, marking UKO’s first opening in Western Australia. UKO Build-to-Rent and ALDI are both expected to open at the end of February, with other confirmed tenants anticipated to move in by March and further openings to follow.

SCQ’s pitch is about more than the new addresses. The Commons is designed as the green heart of the precinct: Commons West sits within the retail area, while Commons East is home to The Courts. A stories trail is planned to bring the area’s history to life, and a percent-for-public-art commitment will showcase Western Australian artists across the precinct and throughout the hotel.

The layout is pedestrian-first, encouraging people to meander between shops, dining and shared spaces. The precinct is also within Perth’s Free Transit Zone, connects with the cycle-path network and sits close to the city’s north, south, east and west road routes. Underground parking is also planned.

With a hotel, rooftop dining, homes, shops and public spaces arriving in phases, SCQ is shaping up as a new pocket to explore on the edge of the CBD. For now, the dates to keep in mind are the start of 2027 for Radisson Perth and Syd’s, followed by further openings through February and March.
