A new $12m luxury accommodation development has been greenlit for the Bunker Bay region. The Farm Bunker Bay is set to comprise ten low-lying luxury chalets within the surrounding native bushland. According to the team, the development will respond to “the current shortage and demand for high-quality accommodation in the South-West”.

They’ve also highlighted a “light-touch approach” through the design, that aims to thoughtfully integrate the “values of the Wadandi Saltwater custodians of Bunker Bay.” With this in mind, the development will be mindful of existing vegetation and aim to enhance existing natural bush and beach land.

A synthetic approach to chalet design will use built-form materials and work to minimise disturbance to existing vegetation. According to the development’s website, the build approach aligns with Tourism WA’s objective to expand “boutique, highly experiential and aspirational product.”

The development will be off Cape Naturaliste Road, and backing onto the existing Pullman Bunker Bay Resort, in easy proximity to Bunker Bay Beach.

What Can We Expect From The Development?

The Farm Bunker Bay will comprise ten chalets, six three-bed and four two-bed. Each will have its own lounge room and fully equipped kitchen, with an additional communal kitchen and cooking facilities available within a communal pavilion that will offer views across Bunker Bay beach.

Central to the design is a boardwalk that will weave through the development, and connect the chalets to the nearby beach.

Who’s Behind The Build?

The project will be brought to life by Place Management, known for their work on local hotels like The Westin and The Lodge Wadjemup, and supported by locally-based Kerry Hill Architects (KHA), in collaboration with MALA Landscape Architects.
