West Perth restaurant and bar

West Perth could be considered a bit of an underdog with so many gems hidden in the green leafy streets just waiting to be explored.

With its moody wine bars, great no-frills lunch spots and iconic places for a dinner feast, there’s a lot to love about this inner city hub.

Here are eight of West Perth’s best restaurants and bars to enjoy.

Boobook Bottle Shop And Bar

Sitting in the old Gangemi’s site, this fab new space is there for all your vino, spirit and non-alc options at the front, and a cheeky post-work drink and snack at the back. Celebrating the stunning character-filled architecture of yesteryear, we love the classic checkered flooring, endless high ceilings and the big light-flooding windows that make it a cosy space for a glass (or bottle) shared amongst friends. With a revolving cheese and charcuterie menu too, these guys have concocted the perfect recipe for a great after work tipple.

Gordon Street Garage

Arguably one of the first trendy all day dining spots in Perth, Gordon Street Garage exudes effortless cool—and with the DNA behind Bread In Common and the Mano a Mano Coffee Roasters team, this team knows exactly how to create an epic space. Set in a lofty warehouse space and with a recently renovated leafy courtyard overlooking the city skyline, this place caters for any vibe you’re after day or night—whether it’s a lunch meeting, or an intimate first date drink by candlelight, they’ll have you sorted.

Perugino

Looking for a little timeless glamour? Say ciao to Perugino, an absolute West Perth institution that has been a go-to celebration spot of Perth locals for decades (since 1986 in fact) loved for its mesmerising glass roof to look up at the stars from and their classic white table cloths and of course their stellar Italian home cooking that will impress even the fussiest of foodies. Best known for not only their pasta dishes but also their legendary lamb rack with caramelised figs, we promise you a special night out here.

Mayfair Lane

Mayfair Lane is known to many for their contemporary slightly fancier twists on some of the beloved gastro-pub English classics, but they’re also making waves with their Afternoon Tipples Series every Saturday with endless free flowing spritzes, sparkling and cocktails as well as some absolutely top notch nosh great for kicking off the weekend shenanigans. With refined pastel furnishings and super cosy booths, this has become an inner-city fave for good reason.

Gather On Hay

Bright rustic white walls and homely furnishings are the name of the game at Gather on Hay. This super cosy all day pad has a huge brunch and lunch menu meaning you can hang around all day, and with a luscious greenery-filled courtyard space, why would you ever want to leave on a sunny day? Better still - they’re attached to gift store haven Cavania, so why not treat yourself to a little something cute or tick off that gift list with their endless string of beautiful homewares, cards, clothing and jewellery.

Julio’s

Another wonderful institution that’s stood the test of time around West Perth is Julio’s Italian Restaurant nestled into a charming 1902 heritage-listed building that’s been home to this delicious eatery for yonks. Think rustic fireplaces, exposed brick, original cornices and plenty of Italian va-va-voom from the fabulous team in the kitchen and behind the bar. Ensure to head down on a Friday night for some funky live music and a tonne of awesome drinks specials too to kick your weekend off right.

Fat Boyz Small Bar

Sitting right on the Hay Street border, Fat Boyz Small Bar is quietly throwing out some of the most drool worthy burgs we’ve had in a long time. The Maple Mclovin’ concocts their legendary fried chicken, crispy bacon, pickles and housemade maple mustard (salivating yet?) plus some pretty tasty tacos, wings and rotating specials for those needing a serious feed during the week. This place isn’t for the faint hearted, but boy(z) is it delicious.

The Collab Lounge

Beer, board games and whiskey all in one warm relaxed bar? Sign us up. This hangout is super popular with uni students and locals who love a bargain thanks to its cheap deals, pop up collabs (Archie’s Hot Chicken graced their kitchen last year) and friendly team always ready to give you a new suggestion for a crew brew that’s just arrived. You’ll often see people spilled out onto the street eating an epic burger or getting competitive over a game of Jenga, so go and join in the fun.
