The Verdict
If your workouts have turned into an absolute bore and you’re seeing minimal gains you need to visit Adrenaline Vault in Belmont ASAP. The largest bouldering facility in Perth (not to mention the second largest in Australia), we’d go as far to say that it’s one of the most fun, yet effective ways to workout in P-town.
Simply put, bouldering is rock climbing without the hassle of ropes and harnesses. While that may sound scary to you, there’s no need to be alarmed, the flooring of Adrenaline Vault’s climbing walls is made up of a thick mat which will catch you if you fall.
Featuring overhangs, top outs and double arches, as with rock climbing, the different coloured boulders signify the level of difficulty from beginner right through to advanced. And before you start thinking your upper body strength won’t be able to handle even the easiest of climbs, we’re here to let you in on a little secret—it’s your legs and core that do most of the work if you are bouldering properly.
Offering casual day passes as well as monthly and yearly memberships, Adrenaline Vault has got all of your gear covered with shoe and chalk hire, but if you’re on track to become a regular climber (and we’re certain you’ll be hooked after your first session) you’ll probably want to purchase your own kit from their shop.
One thing we learned from our first climb is that bouldering is best enjoyed with a mate standing by to egg you on, so be sure to invite some buddies. And after all of your hard work you’re definitely going to want to order one of their super refreshing, house-made iced teas (we can recommend the hibiscus and green tea). They’re also brewing Blacklist Coffee Roasters and selling Fatboi Brownies if you’re in need of an espresso/sugar hit.
Adrenaline Vault also runs yoga, strength and conditioning, core and boxing classes, and there’s a masseuse on site to help work out any climbing kinks you may encounter along the way.
What are you waiting for? Gather your climbing compadres and head to Adrenaline Vault now!
