The Verdict
Nestled among other top eateries at The Mezz in Mount Hawthorn, Drasko’s Hot Chicken is the creation of Perth-raised journalist turned chef Drasko Jankovic who has long dreamt of bringing the traditional Nashville chicken experience to Perth—and boy were we glad to see that dream finally come to fruition.
Go for the signature sando or the classic quarter, and choose from five different heat levels, ranging from Southern (no heat) to Blame Drasko (extra hot). Real chilli addicts can even brave the off-menu triple hot ‘Bastard Chilli’ which is made with a special Carnarvon chilli that requires a signed waiver to try. Pair it with some of their classic sides and a homemade iced tea.
We're also big fans of the fried chicken and waffles available from 12pm Saturdays and Sundays (until it sells out), featuring two fried chicken tenders on a house-made organic yeasted waffle with whipped butter, all topped with pure Canadian maple syrup.
And while we're speaking of weekend goodies, it's Drasko's birthday this weekend and to celebrate he's teamed up with the vegan dessert legends at Roho to create some very special Southern-inspired peach cobbler ice cream cookies—because if you have to work on your birthday, inventing your own dessert seems like the way to go. It's available this Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 July only, so get down early to get in on the bday action and be sure to wish the main man a happy birthday.

White tablecloths, marble, jacketed wait staff and caviar bumps—Gibney is hands down the fanciest of all the venues under George Kailis' name. And honestly, it might just take the cake for 'most opulent dining destination' in all of Perth.
Tom’s Providore & Wine Bar
If you’re a Leederville local, you will probably recall the devastation felt the day we discovered the beloved Tom’s Cafe right in the heart of Oxford Street was closing down towards the start of the pandemic. But thankfully since closing the OG, the legends have come back with a new and improved Tom’s in Highgate.
