The Verdict

Eccolo in Hillarys is exactly where you need to go when you’re craving authentic Italian. Nestled away on Flinder’s Avenue, Eccolo has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and dishes up a whole lot of good food with a whole lot of heart.

The arancini here is unforgettable. Think crispy fried rice balls, stuffed with provolone cheese and homemade beef wagyu. They are perfectly crunchy on the outside and gooey (to a fault!) on the inside.

The team does fresh Neapolitan-style pizzas, and with ingredients exported all the way from Italy, you're guaranteed to get the rich flavour coming through every slice.

The pasta at Eccolo is also a standout, and if you’re a seafood lover, the seafood linguini with squid ink pasta and succulent mussels is highly recommended for a filling meal. The Gnocchi Tartufati is another one of their winners—the pillow-soft, melt-in-your-mouth gnocchi served with a mushroom sauce packs a flavourful punch.

Don’t forget dessert, because Tiramisu and Nutella pizza beckons.

But thankfully since closing the OG, the legends have come back with a new and improved Tom’s in Highgate.
