The Verdict
Hongkies in Northbridge has one main mission—to bring the food of Hong Kong to the people of Perth—and they are nailing it. They've got everything from traditional fried noodles and wontons to the not so traditional baked rice and French toast.
Now let's circle back to that baked rice for just a second. There is a whole section of the menu dedicated to their baked goodies—all of which are doused in a very generous amount of cheese, of course—so you can choose from baked rice in creamy sauce with corn, baked rice in curry sauce or even baked curry beef brisket. This is comfort food at its very best.
These guys also do dim sum all day long so you get can salt and pepper squid, spicy wontons, runny custard buns and everything else you could ever dream of any time of day.
If you're after something sweet, take a look at their pineapple buns or the thick toast loaded with any combination of condensed milk, butter, kaya (for those of you playing at home, kaya is a delicious coconut spread that you need in your life right now), peanut butter and strawberry jam. It might not be healthy but yolo.
