The Verdict

After taking the Melbourne burger scene by storm, Huxtaburger has opened in Perth at the incredibly luxe Hibernian Place on Hay Street in the CBD.

If you haven't had the pleasure of visiting Huxtaburger in Melbourne, then let us tell you what you've been missing out on. Think sweet bread buns filled with grass-fed beef, jalapenos, sriracha mayo and all the other good stuff, or go for the fried chicken with jalapeno mayo and slaw. Of course, they do your classic burgers and cheeseburgers—and gosh darn they are good—and if you're vego they've got you covered too with a couple of killer veggie options—spicy bean and quinoa patty anyone?

Huxtaburger has also made plant-based diets even more appealing with the release of their new Alternative Burger. Made with a patty from The Alternative Meat Co (set to rival the Beyond and Impossible burgers), the burg was created by Luke Hemsworth's trainer Luke Zocchi and comes together with a vegan bun, grilled onions, fresh pickles, lettuce, tomato, melted vegan cheese and special sauce. And the sauce is indeed special; a mix of vegan mayo, tomato sauce, dijon mustard, gherkin relish and sriracha. The high-protein burger is available from now until the end of June, so go and show your support and maybe they'll consider keeping it on the menu year-round.

Gibney

White tablecloths, marble, jacketed wait staff and caviar bumps—Gibney is hands down the fanciest of all the venues under George Kailis' name. And honestly, it might just take the cake for 'most opulent dining destination' in all of Perth.

Tom’s Providore & Wine Bar

If you’re a Leederville local, you will probably recall the devastation felt the day we discovered the beloved Tom’s Cafe right in the heart of Oxford Street was closing down towards the start of the pandemic. But thankfully since closing the OG, the legends have come back with a new and improved Tom’s in Highgate.
