The Verdict
Take note, James St Bar + Kitchen is here to help you get your grill on. Residing in the heart of Northbridge, you’ll find this elegantly presented establishment ready to make good on all your delicious desires.
Tucked away inside the DoubleTree by Hilton in Northbridge, James St sets your expectations high when you first step foot in the venue. The refined interior boasts moody wooden floors and mid-century-inspired furnishings, accented with rich tones of walnut and atmospheric lighting.
Led by Executive Chef Kevin Garcia, the team is all about creating a relaxing environment to enjoy the modern Western Australian-inspired fare. From breakfast through to work lunches, happy hour and decadent dinners, they’ve got you covered.
If you’re after a quick but quality weekday bite, check out the $10 lunch special, available until 2.30pm from Monday through to Friday. Choose from crowd favourites like a juicy burger with a house-made beef pattie, or the pumpkin and quinoa salad with tangy citrus dressing. While you’re at it, why not spend your lunchtime savings on a glass of vino—don’t worry, we won’t tell the boss.
Speaking of vino, when happy hour rolls around (6–7pm daily) we recommend pulling up to the bar for a sip from the impressive drinks list. When you’re ready to level-up, take on a tipple from the cocktail list—we’re down for the DoubleTree Cookie starring Havana Club 7 dark rum, Amaretto, vanilla and chocolate. Dessert disguised as cocktails is always a vibe.
Moving on to the main event, you’ll be equally impressed with the dinner selection. If you’re keeping it snacky, opt for share plates from the bar snacks and tapas menu. Spicy chorizo, chickpea and tomato fondue, tomato and mozzarella arancini and grilled pita with dips are sure to please the crew.
For mains, go for something with serious flavour from the grill. Think 300g rump steak, a hearty cauliflower steak or salmon fillet paired with your choice of sauce, crispy chips and fresh slaw. You’ll also enjoy digging into fried ice cream with cookie crumbs, or orange and vanilla crème brûlée for dessert.
Drooling yet? Don’t dawdle, light up the group chat and book in your next outing at James St Bar + Kitchen.

White tablecloths, marble, jacketed wait staff and caviar bumps—Gibney is hands down the fanciest of all the venues under George Kailis' name. And honestly, it might just take the cake for 'most opulent dining destination' in all of Perth.
Tom’s Providore & Wine Bar
If you’re a Leederville local, you will probably recall the devastation felt the day we discovered the beloved Tom’s Cafe right in the heart of Oxford Street was closing down towards the start of the pandemic. But thankfully since closing the OG, the legends have come back with a new and improved Tom’s in Highgate.
