The Verdict
Neighbourhood gem is a term that gets thrown around a lot these days but the cliché really is true when it comes to Perth Italian restaurant, La Lola.
Recently taken over by Natalie and Tony Orr, La Lola has a traditional yet buzzy ‘bistro’ feel and is exactly what casual Italian dining should be about—great food, excellent service and a cosy setting perfect for whiling away a red wine-fuelled night.
You're going to want to order the eggplant parmigiana, followed by as much pizza and pasta as you can possibly eat. Just make sure you leave room for dessert because you can't leave without trying the tiramisu or the torte caprese (or both!)
As perfect for group dinners as it is for date night, you can also get your gang together and book the new private dining room (aptly named Gina) which seats 20 people.
Recently La Lola's Gluten-Free Dinners held on the last Wednesday of every month have become a thing—and an extremely popular one at that. In conjunction with the masterminds at the Gluten-Free Lab, La Lola has formulated a particularly special menu for the gluten-intolerant people of Perth, featuring the all-important, cult-favourite Italian carb, pasta. The dinners consist of four-courses, from antipasto and pasta to protein and dessert, for $69 per head, and with meal modification available for those with other dietary requirements creating ultimate flexibility for diners. We highly recommend booking in advance to secure your spot.

White tablecloths, marble, jacketed wait staff and caviar bumps—Gibney is hands down the fanciest of all the venues under George Kailis' name. And honestly, it might just take the cake for 'most opulent dining destination' in all of Perth.
Tom’s Providore & Wine Bar
If you’re a Leederville local, you will probably recall the devastation felt the day we discovered the beloved Tom’s Cafe right in the heart of Oxford Street was closing down towards the start of the pandemic. But thankfully since closing the OG, the legends have come back with a new and improved Tom’s in Highgate.
