The Verdict

At Mary Street Bakery's QV1 cafe you'll find their famed doughnuts and bread, grab-and-go staples like egg and bacon rolls, pork or chicken sandos and fresh-made poke bowls, plus their ever-changing cruffin creations—from a mouth-watering choc brownie flavour to a fig, pistachio and custard combination.

But it's Mary Street Bakery's latest creation, that's really got our attention. The Sweeney Todd Pie is a collab with West Australian Opera to celebrate the brand new production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Filled with a deliciously sweet blueberry and blackberry filling (and no human parts, thankfully), the pie is encrusted in a sweet puff pastry that's baked to perfection.

To score one for free, head down to QV1 on Thursday 20 June where they're giving away 100 blood-red centred pies to the first people through the doors at 7am. Then, the beard-clad lads can head over to Uncle Joe's for a free beard trim and chance to meet the dark Opera's leading legend, Ben Mingay (Packed to the Rafters and Home and Away). To round-out your Sweeney Todd-themed day be sure to book tickets to the production which is running on 13,16, 18 and 20 July at His Majesty's Theatre. Mary Street Bakery will be dishing out the limited edition pies at all locations from 20 June to 2 July.
