The Verdict
Dishing up Cantonese flavours with contemporary flair, Silks at Crown Perth in Burswood radiates elegance and class, and their new yum cha menu is sure to impress dumpling lovers.
Using WA produce, the menu features tasty morsels like the Prawn Black Gold Dumpling that’s dusted with gold leaf, XO Turnip Cake and Beef Siu Mai made with grass-fed beef.
The best time to get your hands on the goodness is at lunch, when their $45 Set Yum Cha and $55 Ultimate lunch Yum Cha menus are in action and you can fill your tummy with truffle spring rolls and char-sui roasted toothfish. The latter option nabs you a tasty ginger custard cream dessert with rhubarb textures and mandarin crisp as well as a glass of sparkling, so you know what to do.
If it’s an authentic Chinese banquet you’re after, then you’ll want to make a dinner booking. Choose between the $78 and $128 Signature Banquets and you’ll be tucking into their Szechuan lamb rack, lobster sung choi bao, prawn and pork wontons and blue manna crab fried rice. But if you like being in charge of your own destiny, you can order as you wish from the a la carte menu, paying special attention to the dark chocolate mousse with a pomelo honey soft centre, green tea cream and Szechuan pepper raspberry sorbet.
Decked out in a traditional style with plenty of warmth, Silks has your next function covered thanks to their four private dining rooms; and with all the food on the menu, is best enjoyed among a crowd.

If you’re a Leederville local, you will probably recall the devastation felt the day we discovered the beloved Tom’s Cafe right in the heart of Oxford Street was closing down towards the start of the pandemic. But thankfully since closing the OG, the legends have come back with a new and improved Tom’s in Highgate.
