The Verdict
Style, sophistication and laidback vibes meet at Perth oceanside bar, The Beach Club. Entrenched in some mighty fine real estate on the beautiful Cottesloe coastline, there aren't too many better places on a Perth summer's day to enjoy a glass of bubbles than at The Beach Club.
Always evolving, The Beach Club has just undergone a mini makeover and the new menu is legit. Featuring plenty of fresh and local flavours, it's split into shares, small plates, large plates, pizzas and woodfired eats, so whether you're popping in for a quick bite or settling in for a long lunch, they've got you covered.
Oysters are always a must when you're beachside and the ones here come with a raspberry mignonette. Grab half a dozen as well as the harissa wood grilled octopus and some rustic chips with smoked jalapeno mayo and your tastebuds will be popping.
The small plates include goodness like brussel sprouts with cauliflower puree, speck and pecorino or local peaches with puffed grains, candied pecans and Meredith feta, while the large plates feature the Cott burger and sustainable WA beer battered fish.
Pizza is never a bad idea, especially when they are made with hand-stretched dough like the ones at The Beach Club. Combos include chargrilled zucchini, feta and pink peppercorns and WA prawns, squid, fish, white anchovy, fresh oregano and chilli.
The woodfired menu is where you will find plenty of meaty goodness, including dry-aged scotch fillet with duck fat potatoes and shiraz churned butter, and Mount Barker rotisserie chicken with charred lemon and baby kale.
For dessert, The Beach Club keeps things fresh with a new special each week.
On the drinks menu you'll find local and international wines, draught beers and some of the best cocktails going around. We love the London's Calling with Gordon's pink gin and prosecco, The Club Spritz with dry gin, mandarin, lavender, honey syrup, orange and grapefruit juice, but we're also partial to the Lexington Expresso Martini (on tap). If you are going with a group (which you probably are), grab a couple of cocktail carafes. The Rangpur Sling with Tanqueray Rangpur, lemon juice, elderflower syrup and lemonade is a fave.
Oyster fans will want to make a beeline for The Beach Club after work on Fridays when Perth's own 'Oyster King', Jerry Fraser, starts shucking from 4pm.
And just when you thought things couldn't get better, the legends here offer bottle service in what's been dubbed the Ultimate Beach Club Experience. Perfect for a special occasion (or not), the package costs $1,000 and includes a selection of Beach Club bites, freshly shucked oysters, a magnum of French champagne, a bottle of primo spirits (think Belvedere Vodka, Tanqueray Gin or Kraken Spiced Rum) and premium mixers. Suitable for six to ten people, if you want to know more enquire at the bar.
Shall we meet you there?
