The Details
The Verdict
On the corner of Hay and Kings Street you’ll find the recently revamped InterContinental Perth Hotel. With a major transformation thanks to some of the country's top architects, things are looking pretty darn good, and that’s even before you enter the sophisticated AF Loft Bar and Lounge (BYO heels).
Located on the first level of the hotel, The Loft boasts killer views of the streets of Perth and the neighbouring His Majesty’s Theatre. We’re keeping our eyes on the outdoor terrace area for balmy summer nights spent drinking (too) much wine and the best vino that WA has to offer.
The menu ranges from high tea and light bar snacks, including fried serrano ham fritters and guindilla peppers, to full alfresco dining with whole spatchcock marinated in lemon chilli and garlic (just take our money already!) And if you're after a really good deal on high tea, you've found it. The guys here offer their InterContinental High Tea for just $59 per person. It's available every Saturday and Sunday and the menu includes goodies like Howard Park sparkling rosé and white chocolate and passionfruit torte.
Drinks are in abundance with a focus on cocktails (they have an in-house profesh mixologist, so yes, they take your Friday night drinks seriously) and a huge hat tip to the wine list which not only features classic staples like the Galafrey Riesling from Mount Barker but also covers ritzy and refined additions like the Cullen’s Cabernet hailing from the magical lands of Margaret River. And if you’re not a fan of the crushed grape varieties then there’s a stack of craft beers available for sampling.
The Loft is the perfect end to a busy day, a break in an extreme burst of retail therapy, or a classic spot to soak up the sun and take in the city.
