The Verdict

After-work drinks just got a whole lot cooler thanks to the Wine Merchant at the State Buildings in Perth. The walls are lined with a carefully curated selection of boutique wines, with drops for new drinkers and those with more seasoned palates—so take a seat at one of the cosy leather booths and enjoy a glass or three. The entire menu of ready-to-drink artisan wines, beers, spirits, aperitifs, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks is food-friendly, so you’re going to want to get comfy as you dig into the best of WA’s local and seasonal produce.

Of course, you’ll also be able to grab a bottle or two straight from the shelves to take home, but before you leave, make sure to have a chat to the team (headed by Emma Farrelly)—their wine knowledge will blow you away. To help set the scene at home, goodies like biodynamic wine scented candles and Zalto decanters are also available for purchase, because there’s nothing better than a spot of retail therapy.
