The Verdict
Owned by local DJ Karl Blue and sitting pretty in the heart of Leederville, this hip-hop-themed fried chicken joint is hard to pass up.
The menu is layered with hearty comfort food and we are digging the names of each dish just as much as the food. Take the Wutangy for example: Philly chilli fries, chorizo, hot sauce, spicy peppers, a fried runny egg and Thugg fried chicken in between their signature fried waffles.
You can find plenty of big feeds like this on the menu, but if you’re up for something a little smaller opt for their speciality Cone of Thuggs; a waffle cone of fried chicken, dirty slaw and your choice of cheesy sauce.
This joint has taken over the spot where MOP Donuts was on Newcastle Street, but they’ve kept owner Giovanni Pezzano on as a business partner, and the exclusive fried chicken recipe is one of his family’s secret recipes.
When it comes to the atmosphere, DJ Karl Blue is doing it right with R’n’B music blasting from the speakers and photos of famous rappers lining the walls; perfect vibes for a big feed before a night out with your mates.

White tablecloths, marble, jacketed wait staff and caviar bumps—Gibney is hands down the fanciest of all the venues under George Kailis' name. And honestly, it might just take the cake for 'most opulent dining destination' in all of Perth.
Tom’s Providore & Wine Bar
If you’re a Leederville local, you will probably recall the devastation felt the day we discovered the beloved Tom’s Cafe right in the heart of Oxford Street was closing down towards the start of the pandemic. But thankfully since closing the OG, the legends have come back with a new and improved Tom’s in Highgate.
