Toast My Curry
The Verdict
Toast My Curry started off as a colourful food truck, introducing Perth to the world's first curry toasties. Luckily for us, they’ve now expanded to an equally as vibrant warehouse in East Vic Park, so there’s no need to wait until the next festival or market to satisfy your curry cravings. Inspired by the colours of Mumbai, the space is splashed in colours of pink and yellow, with murals, plush couches and a sea container turned kitchen. If the inviting space doesn’t put a smile on your face, the food certainly will.
Toast My Curry is known for its naan bread toasties—AKA Naasties—which are filled with delicious Indian curries. Choose from mouth-watering fillings like butter chicken, Bombay masala, cauliflower and potato, lamb keema and more. Match a toastie with a serve of masala chips, perfectly spiced and extremely moreish. We also recommend trying a samosa chaat, a popular Mumbai street food. It’s a crushed samosa topped with chutney, chickpea curry, yoghurt, and onion. Seriously delicious.
The legends at Toast My Curry have also dappled in a few combos we simply had to try. They’ve combined their signature butter chicken sauce with mac and cheese toasties, chicken nuggets and cheesy loaded fries, making these crowd favourites even more delicious. If that doesn’t sound awesome, they’ve just released a new dish—a butter chicken naan pizza.
If a foodie sesh at Toast My Curry couldn’t get any better, you can BYO, so you can match your curry with a cold one. Otherwise, sip on a traditional Indian chai.
These guys also have a great initiative called Containers for Curry, where you bring your own containers and fill them with lip-smacking curry. This started as a way to reduce their plastic usage, and we are more than happy to get behind them. They run Containers for Curry on the first Wednesday of every month, but you can keep up to date with them on their Facebook page. The legends at Toast My Curry also run a curry4curry program, a food-based social enterprise where they donate to kids in Mumbai for every toastie sold. You can feel good about going back over and over again.
