Chimichanga VivoCity

This Chinese New Year, Chimichanga VivoCity invites you to embark on a culinary journey that pays homage to a fascinating and lesser-known chapter of history: the rich cultural fusion between Chinese and Mexican communities. From 20 January to 12 February 2025, the restaurant will showcase a specially curated menu inspired by this shared heritage and captures the essence of Chinese-Mexican gastronomy.

The inspiration for Chimichanga’s Chinese New Year menu stems from the history of Barrio Chino, or Chinatown, in Mexico. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Chinese immigrants arrived in Mexico seeking new opportunities, bringing with them their rich culinary traditions and cooking techniques. Over time, these influences integrated into Mexico’s diverse food culture, creating a distinctive Chinese-Mexican cuisine that is bold, flavourful, and truly one of a kind.

The Prosperity Salad is a Mexican-inspired twist on Lo Hei, combining fresh greens, Mexican pickled onions, pomelo, orange slices, toasted corn kernels, and kaffir lime leaves, tossed in agave dressing and honey salsa macha, and topped with silky salmon sashimi. Another highlight is the Duck Barbacoa Tacos which feature slow-cooked Irish duck, pulled and complemented with tangy Mexican pickled onions, crisp lettuce, sour cream, and a touch of hawthorn sauce, served in warm corn tortillas.
