Singaporeans Are Heading Back To Western Australia In Record Numbers—Here’s Why
If your Instagram feed is suddenly full of Perth sunsets, Margaret River wine pours and suspiciously relaxed friends, you’re not imagining things. Singaporeans are officially falling back in love with Western Australia.
According to the latest International Visitor Survey, WA welcomed 124,000 visitors from Singapore in the year ending September 2025, marking a 16% jump above pre-pandemic levels and a 19% increase year-on-year. Translation? We’re travelling to WA more than ever, and we’re clearly having a very good time while doing it.
Why WA Is Back On Our Travel Mood Board
Part of the appeal is how easy it all feels. Perth is just a five-hour flight away and it's in the same time zone (no jet lag, thank you very much), but once you land, it’s a full reset—beaches that look untouched, seriously good food, and a lifestyle that runs about three gears slower than Singapore.
The data shows most Singapore travellers are heading over for holidays (48%), followed closely by visiting friends and relatives (40%), with a smaller but solid slice travelling for business. Whether it’s a family trip, a couple’s escape or a solo recharge, WA is ticking all the boxes.

How Singaporeans Are Travelling (And Spending)
Nearly 45% of Singapore visitors travel as families, while solo travellers (26.4%) and couples (12%) aren’t far behind (proof that WA isn’t a one-type-of-traveller destination). It’s flexible, laid-back and refreshingly unfussy.
Almost everyone spends time in Perth (99.1%), soaking up the dining scene, beaches and shopping, while 23.8% venture south to Margaret River and the South West, chasing wineries, surf breaks and boutique stays. And yes, we’re spending well while we’re there with an average spend of SGD$2,246 per visitor, up 7.5% from last year and among the highest of all international markets.
What’s Next On WA’s Calendar
If you’re planning a trip, timing couldn’t be better. WA’s upcoming events lineup includes Perth Festival (Feb 2026), FRINGE World Festival, Taste Great Southern, and even the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 giving you even more reasons to build your trip around food, culture and sport.
Easy to get to, big on nature, and effortlessly indulgent, Western Australia hits that sweet spot of feeling exciting without being exhausting. And judging by the numbers, Singaporeans are very much on the same page.
