Celebrate International Women’s Day 2022 At These Uplifting Sunshine Coast Events

International Women’s Day is on Tuesday 8 March, but that doesn’t mean you only have one day to celebrate. There are plenty of events happening on and around the Sunshine Coast this week which are all about celebrating the 2022 International Women’s Day theme of #BreakTheBias.

This year, it’s about creating a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination; a world where difference is valued and celebrated and a world which is equitable and inclusive. From a female empowerment festival to a female-led sunrise walk and talk, these International Women’s Day events on the Sunshine Coast embrace women in all their diversities, cultures and achievements. 

Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network Breakfast

In celebration of women everywhere and breaking the bias, the Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network has invited Dr Jo Brown, world-renowned sports and exercise physiotherapist to share her stories and wisdom at their International Women’s Day breakfast. It is set to be an insightful and empowering morning of networking, collaboration and impact. Ticket sales close on Friday 4 March, so we recommend you get in early to avoid missing out.

Her Empowerment Realm Festival

The Her Empowerment Realm Festival (or HER Festival)  is a festival to celebrate International Women’s Day and recognise women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. Expect multicultural performances, educational workshops focusing on business start-up, female empowerment, DV education and more, exercise groups, business exhibits, food trucks and kids playgroups. There’s even child-minding for when parents are in workshops. This wholesome community event has so much to offer and is all about the feel-good vibes.

Break The Bias Noosa Shire Luncheon

The Noosa Shire Women’s Collaborative Network is working with the Noosa Hinterland Brewing Co. to co-host an enlightening International Women’s Day lunch, bringing females together to celebrate their collective achievements. Aligned with the International Women’s Day theme of ‘Break The Bias’, there will be a panel of speakers who will share their experiences related to bias and how they have forged their way to build identity and careers in a variety of fields. Dig into light snacks and sip on a complimentary beverage at this inspiring event.

International Women’s Day Sunrise Beach Walk

What better way to celebrate International Women’s Day than with a beautiful sunrise beach walk, a swim, a cuppa and sharing poetry and stories of women? This event will celebrate women—everyone from our maternal ancestors, to famous women who have changed the world, to the women and friends in our life, who make a difference in the world in small, but significant ways every day. The sunrise beach walk will be led by naturopath Karen McElroy, who specialises in women's health and runs retreats and gatherings for females.

BPW International Women’s Day Ceremony

This International Women’s Day, BPW North Lakes will be hosting their annual Candle Lighting Ceremony, followed by dinner celebrations to recognise this important day. There will be a raffle all night long, with all money raised from the raffle donated to A Brave Life charity, which provides essential baby items to young women and encourages them to finish their education. You’ll be treated to a delicious two-course meal while discussing how we can promote new actions through cooperation.
