Queensland’s coastal charm is set to gain another notch on its belt, with a landmark development in the works—transforming Sandstone Point into a world-class tourism hub.

The Comiskey Group (aka the visionary team behind Sandstone Point Hotel and Holiday Resort as well as the much anticipated Dakabin Hotel) have just unveiled a $250 million expansion complete with luxury accommodation and a full-scale overhaul of the Moreton Bay destination.

The development will introduce the region’s first greenfield five-star hotel, set across ten storeys and two architecturally striking buildings. With 202 rooms on offer and sweeping views of the pristine Pumicestone Passage, the resort will be nothing short of an absolute game-changer for the region.

With a new stay comes new ways to play, and this project will include an expansive infinity pool overlooking the water, an adults-only pool with a swim-up bar and live DJ sets, a rejuvenating wellness centre, a Mediterranean restaurant, a fully equipped gym and family-friendly pools. The space will also feature state-of-the-art function spaces—ready to host everything from corporate retreats to unforgettable weddings.

Locals have plenty of reasons to embrace the evolution of Sandstone Point, as the broad masterplan includes a vibrant retail and entertainment precinct, offering additional dining options and things to do like bowling. Upgraded concert facilities are also on the cards, which will be enhanced by a dedicated bus terminal and expanded basement car parking to handle the crowds.

The development isn’t just easy on the eyes—it’s a huge opportunity delivering substantial economic value and driving more visitors to the region.

“Moreton Bay is entering a truly exciting chapter in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032,” said CEO of Tourism and Events Moreton Bay, Luke Edwards.

“We’re seeing consistent growth in visitor numbers and a clear evolution in the depth and quality of our tourism experiences—and developments like this play a key role in that trajectory. The Comiskey Group’s expansion will strengthen our region’s appeal, support jobs, and contribute to a more vibrant, experience-rich destination for both locals and visitors.”

For the Comiskey Group themselves, this bold new chapter for Sandstone Point has been a long time coming.

“My family and I have owned the land since 2011, and from day one, we saw it as a truly special part of Moreton Bay—perfectly positioned opposite Bribie Island,” said director Rob Comiskey.

“With its pristine beaches, scenic bushland, and 4WD tracks, the area is naturally attractive. We’ve drawn people in with live music, great dining, family-friendly facilities, and the award-winning Sandstone Point Holiday Resort—now Australia’s most popular BIG4 holiday park. Over time, demand has only grown. To meet that and take the experience to the next level, we’re expanding and elevating our offering by delivering the first five-star accommodation in Moreton Bay. It’s about building on what’s already here and making it even more compelling for both locals and tourists.”
