Splash Out On This Surry Hills Restaurant’s Dreamy New 5-Course Winter Menu

By Sammy Preston

If you’re in need of a great date night spot—the sort of slick establishment that will impress without overwhelming—Arthur on leafy Bourke Street in Surry Hills is one of our forever go-to's.

Here, head chef Tristan Rosier wields experience from Merivale's Est. (where he trained alongside Josh Niland) and James Viles’ Biota to whip up strictly seasonal and totally inspiring dishes. One of the reasons we love Arthur as a winning date night spot is the fact that it's a set menu. Forget food envy and choice paralysis—relax and let Rossier and his team take you and your date on a little culinary trip.

"I like to take high-quality produce which is at its peak and in-season, and then prepare it quite simply, but use interesting supporting ingredients to elevate the hero ingredient," the chef explains.

Based on this seasonal philosophy, Rosier's set menu switches up regularly, and this week he's revealed Arthur's brand new winter menu. Made up of five courses, you'll be treated to fresh scallops in meyer lemon and served with piel de sapo melon; Marron bathed in a bush tomato and trout XO sauce; and for dessert, pink-coloured rhubarb sorbet served with burnt honey, sheep's yoghurt, and caramelised white chocolate crumbed biscuit.

There'll even be surprise dishes in the mix based on the team's daily visit to the markets.

Keen to try? Arthur's new winter five-course menu will be available from Thursday 1 July, on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings and weekend lunches. The set menu is $95 per person, with wine pairing available for an extra $79 per person.
