If Dad takes his steak seriously, Chophouse Sydney is firing up the grill for a Father’s Day lunch built around premium Australian beef.

From 12pm–3pm, Matt Moran’s acclaimed steak restaurant will serve its regular à la carte menu alongside a 400-day grain-fed, 800g Sher Wagyu F1 rib on the bone ($250), designed to share around the table.

Every dad dining on Sunday 6 September will also receive a complimentary Wagyu slider, a tasting of Maker’s Mark Star Hill Farm Premium Whisky and a pair of limited-edition Chophouse socks to take home.

Usually closed on Sundays, hatted Italian restaurant Palazzo Salato is making an exception for Father’s Day, opening for a one-off lunch on Sunday 6 September.

The à la carte menu brings back favourites including Palazzo ham with colatura hot sauce and focaccia, plus the signature mafaldine with spanner crab, uni butter, chilli and sea blight. Father’s Day specials include porchetta Romana with butter beans and cavolo nero, and Eastern rock lobster with mandilli di seta, ’nduja butter and bisque, which must be pre-ordered. The set menu will also be available, alongside big reds and buttery whites poured by the glass.

For the dad who’d choose beer and barbecue over a formal lunch, The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre is keeping Father’s Day suitably relaxed.

Every father figure will receive a complimentary Hawke’s beer, while in-house Cantonese restaurant Lucky Prawn will serve limited-edition specials including half a barbecue duck ($45), 500g of char siu pork ($37) and an $80 mixed barbecue plate. The duck and mixed plate can be pre-ordered, with limited quantities available on the day.

You can also pre-order a $55 merch pack, featuring a six-pack of Hawke’s Lager, a Lucky Prawn cap and a Hawke’s tinnie cooler, ready and waiting at the table when Dad arrives.

The spread covers Sydney rock oysters, tiger prawns, crab, smoked salmon and Balmain bugs, alongside a live grill serving Hereford beef striploin, barbecue Berkshire pork ribs and more. There’s also a duck pancake station, slow-roasted Wagyu beef bolar blade and plenty of desserts to finish.

Running from 12.30pm–3.30pm on Sunday 6 September, brunch costs $155 for adults and $65 for children aged four–12. Add free-flowing beer, wine and soft drinks for $35, with complimentary parking included.

For a Father’s Day feast with plenty of punch, PIQU is opening for a rare Sunday lunch built around its Southeast Asian-inspired cooking.

The seven-course set menu ($95pp) moves through kingfish laab with praline nam jim, pork skewers with date glaze, watermelon and green mango salad, mussels with chilli jam and a Lao-style lamb shoulder stew. Priced at $110pp, the shared feast includes tuna tartare, taramasalata, burrata with pomegranate molasses, king prawn skewers and trevally with lemon butter, followed by baklava with ice cream. Hamsi’s full à la carte menu will also be available throughout the day.
